How Seanors collects, uses and protects personal data.
Last updated: September 11, 2026
This privacy policy describes how Seanors ("Seanors", "we", "us"), a company based in France operating the website seanors.com and the Seanors web, iOS and Android applications (together, the "Service"), collects, uses, shares and protects personal data. Seanors acts as a data controller for the personal data described here, except where it processes data on behalf of a management company or landlord customer, in which case it acts as a processor under that customer's instructions.
1. Data we collect
Data you provide
- Account data: name, email address, phone number, company name, role, password and profile details.
- Property and tenancy data: unit and building information, listings, lease documents, rent schedules, inspection reports, maintenance requests and related communications.
- Application and screening data: information submitted in a rental application, including identity, employment, income, rental history and, with your consent, credit and background check reports obtained from third-party screening providers.
- Payment data: bank account or card details, which are collected and stored by our payment processors; Seanors stores only tokens, the last digits and transaction records.
- Contractor business data: estimates, invoices, job-site addresses, timesheets and inventory records.
- Communications: messages, voice and video call metadata, and support requests sent to us.
Data collected automatically
- Device and usage data such as IP address, device identifiers, operating system, app version, pages viewed and actions taken.
- Approximate location derived from IP address, and precise location only when you grant the mobile app permission (for example, to check in at a job site).
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described in section 7.
2. How we use data
- To provide and operate the Service, including listings, screening, leases, rent collection, accounting, maintenance dispatch, inspections, compliance tracking and messaging.
- To process payments and, where you have opted in, to report rent payments to credit bureaus.
- To calculate sales tax rates for contractor invoices from the job-site address.
- To publish aggregated, de-identified rent statistics in our public research. Published datasets never contain personal data.
- To provide customer support, migration services and security monitoring.
- To send service notifications and, with your consent where required, product updates.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We process personal data on the basis of performance of a contract, our legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service), compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required — for example for credit and background checks, rent reporting, precise location and non-essential cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing.
4. Sharing
- Between users of the Service: for example, an applicant's information is shared with the landlord or manager of the unit applied for; a work order is shared with the contractor assigned to it.
- Service providers: payment processors, screening and credit-report providers, e-signature providers, cloud hosting, communications infrastructure, analytics and customer-support tools, bound by contract to process data only on our instructions.
- Credit bureaus: when you enable rent reporting.
- Legal and safety: where required by law, court order or to protect the rights, property or safety of Seanors, our users or the public.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal data.
5. International transfers
Seanors is based in France. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, we rely on adequacy decisions, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms.
6. Retention
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, then for the period required by accounting, tax, tenancy and anti-fraud laws. Screening reports are retained only as long as the relevant law and our screening providers' terms allow. You may request deletion as described in section 8.
7. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the Service, and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand how it is used. You can manage preferences in the cookie banner or your browser settings. We do not use advertising cookies.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL). To exercise these rights, email privacy@seanors.com. If we process your data on behalf of a management company or landlord, we may direct your request to them.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, logging and regular testing to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure; please use a strong, unique password.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
11. Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app.
